"Normal" and a very short "back-to-brunch" moment

I had really pleasant dreams last night. This morning when I first got up, I looked at Twitter, which I use as what 20 years ago was called a "news accumulator," and saw a couple of interesting stories. Then I realized, I'm not "doom-scrolling" this morning to find out what obnoxious or genuinely crazy thing the President of the United States was posting this morning.

So, for at least a few hours, it feels good to be back to the "normal" of the COVID-19 pandemic, what could be the worst economic depression since the Great Depression, and the now-routine massive corruption of big money in American politics. At least the likelihood of a howling white-supremacist lynch mob storming the US Capitol building has receded for the moment. And that's real progress!

For reporters, researchers, and random geeks, one sign of "normalcy" is the White House website. Even during the Cheney-Bush Administration, you could go to the WH website and get transcripts and videos of speeches and press conferences by the President and Vice President and texts of important documents being issued. The Trump White House website was pretty useless for that sort of thing.

This morning, you can go to the website and see this:
Boring. "Normal." And I'm good with that.

And I plan for this to be my last nod to "unity" with Back-To-Brunch-Liberalism!
