"Old enough to remember" some earlier wars

As the popular saying goes, "I'm old enough to remember" stuff that happened in the last 20 years or so. Like when a Presidential speechwriter and an important defense policy official published this idiotic book at the height of the post-9/11 chest-beating and “USA! USA!” chanting. (Salon 01/30/2004) Richard Perle was a prominent war hawk whose *admirers* gave him the nickname Prince of Darkness. And David Frum as a speechwriter created the immortal phrase “axis of evil” and still provides his wise advice on TV.
Also, I just remembered that American war fans always need some woman like Jane Fonda or the Dixie Chicks to trash for being insufficiently patriotic against the enemy of the day. I wonder who the lucky lady will be on the current war in Ukraine. Surely some actress or pop star will say something unthinkable like, “You know, having a nuclear world war that wipes out pretty much everybody on the planet in short order just possibly might not be the best idea,” or something equally outrageous.

I’m even “old enough to remember” when we solved the problem in Afghanistan in a couple of weeks or so and installed a democratic government and established equal rights for women and everyone there lived happily ever after. And when we invaded Iraq in March and had Mission Accomplished by June. And the Middle East has been calm and peaceful ever since.

So, all we need to do about Ukraine is set up one of our invisible force-fields we call a “no-fly-zone” or drop one of our magic nuclear freedom bombs on Moscow. Hey, that’s all it took to beat Japan, right? I’m not “old enough to remember” that. But, look, “do your own research,” people, didn’t you learn anything from the two-year Bill Gates Vaccine Conspiracy?

Or maybe the oxycontin epidemic among conservative white guys has a lot them talking trash without having any idea what they are talking about.
